HDMI splitter

Can I split my HDMI cable and display HD cable DVR on two TVs? I'm looking at HDMI splitters and switches. On many units I see this caution:

"Due to the current state of the technology, results using HDMI and/or DVI splitters can be mixed. Especially passive splitters which reply on the individual devices ability to negotiate a 3 way handshake. The problem is not all devices are programmed to deal with this properly and will sometimes default to an HDCP error state. To put it simply, some devices will consider a split of the signal to be a copyright violation, so it may decide that only one display should show at a time or may block the content entirely. This type of situation is considered to be a device compatibility issue and can not be fixed short of a firmware update by the individual device manufacturers"

Is anyone running two TVs off of one cable box? Yes, I do want to see the same show on both TVs.

I was going to say price does not matter as long as it works, but then I saw the $200 price tag and suddenly price does matter.

x2 - If you try this, let us know how much you can tell the difference. I have experiment with both types of cables with my customers several times, and they can never tell me which cable was the HDMI.

That's what I did. I put a splitter on a component cable.

I can't tell the difference between HDMI and component anyhow. Then I'll still have an HDMI port open for BlueRay and something else.

I just recently discovered monoprice... EXCELLENT site (shipping is a tad harsh but, then again, I am across the country (they're CA-based))...

OH, My bad, I did not read thru on the O.P., not sure if you can do two tvs at the SAME time, but check/call them anyways, if anyone would have it they would. (cheaper too)
