Lightbulb Panic Button

I finally figured out what the panic button is for. When you take your truck in for service and it has the remote entry keys, the service writer just writes 'Ford' on your ticket. I watched as three different technicians came out to get vehicles. They hit the button then walked straight to the one making all the noise.

The tech guy never has to 'panic' about whether he got the right vehicle.
What will these guys think of next?

Of course, if I took my truck in because the horn and lights were broke it would probably sit there for three days.

Cool

Raoul-
That is a pretty good one....Good thing that I don't have Remote Start on my truck....Next thing they would want is for it to drive into the service bay, and work on itself.....

I use it for when my wife is getting something out of the truck. I hit the panic button when she has the door open and it scares the ***** our of her. I laugh hysterically every time.

I know this is kind of unrelated, but just curious if there was a way to get rid of the panic button? I've set mine off on accident probably 20 times, and it ticks me off. I tried putting tape over the button, nothing works...

mattbert, put a small piece of metal or plastic over the panic button, then use the tape. Half of a guitar pick, or snip the nail off of a thumbtack. A couple of wraps of black electrical tape should do it and not even show.

I would suggest using a dime but, personaly I can't afford that.

sounds good I hadn't thought of that . Not like I really have a need for it... First off, I live in one of the most non-violent towns in america, Littleton CO (I know everyone remembers columbine, but TYPICALLY there is no violence here whatsoever) and I'm 6'8" AND I'm more armed then most criminals so I have a lot more to fight back with then a bleeping horn .

I like it when youre just coming out of a store or something and the truck is way down the line and someone is walking past the truck.. usually good for about a 5 foot jump.

You guys are good! As for me, I use it when I see a good looking guy walking by - get's his attention every time! Well, not actually but this DID give me an idea! LOL!
Cooltrucks - just 'cause you don't have that doesn't mean the service guys don't use it! They probably hit all the other buttons, listen for the truck that DOESN'T alarm & they can find your truck that way! I'm just SO smart - LOL!

If you want to disable the button, just open the remote (as if to change the battery) then cut the bottom of the button so that it doesn't hit the switch on the circuit board. The other option is to go to the dealer and tell them to disconnect it.

My dealer tells there is no way to disconnect it. True? I'd love to get rid of that thing.
