Purchasing options
I need some advice from someone who makes purchases from E-Bay and individuals. For example if I wanted to purchase an item from an individual listing soemthing in the classifieds or on E-Bay, what is the best way to not get ripped off? My fear would be sending someone some money and never receiving the product. Thanks in advance.
I, (we -wife and I) have purchased several things and been pleased. Check out the sellers ratings --This seems to be Ebay's way of keeping people honest. I am sure there is a few "bad apples" -- but I think they are few in number. Good luck!!

We, too, like Markmizzou, sell a lot on eBay -- I even sold a car there and had it delivered across the country. (And, we buy a lot, too!) We've only been burned in one or two selling transactions where the person who was going to buy backed out. We've never been had a problem when buying something. I think eBay is great.

The User Feedback is the way that people are kept honest. If the individual has negative feedbacks (especially multiple ones) listed, you should be careful depending on what the feedbacks say.
I thought this was going to be a discussion about the stock market!
If I were to buy something from an unknown entity that didn't take credit cards, I'd demand that the item be sent COD. If they're willing to send it COD, then there's a better chance that you're getting what you're buying because the seller runs the risk that you will refuse shipment and they will be stuck with the cost of shipping and return.
You know, even paying with a credit card isn't as safe as it used to be. There was a time when it was not the easiest thing for a business to take credit cards. Banks were pretty strict about it because of the risk of charge backs. They had to know for sure that the business could cover the charge back. These days, practically anybody can find a service that will enable you to take credit cards.

Yeah, you should have sold everything this past summer.
I know lots of people who didn't and have lost tons.
Just watch for bargains. Gotta wait and see how the market reacts to the new Prez and Congress.
I don't think we've seen the bottom yet. Of course, having said that, the market will do the opposite. LOL.
