How to do an oil change?

seriously.. how do you change your own oil? lol.. I have an 08 F-150 5.4L and I'd like to give it a try.. mind you, I'm pretty lazy and I'd prefer to just drop it off at the dealer.. I really don't know how.

I've looked around under the truck and can see an oil filter, but how the heck do you even go about getting it off? Are you supposed to pull a plug or something? Where does the oil come out of.. and what should I use to catch it.. and how do I do this without making a huge mess on my underbody.

Anyone want to give me a decent write up? Aside from oil and filter, what else do I need to buy? Pics would be appreciated.

Any red blooded American man should know how to change his own oil! If you don't actually know how, your dad deserves a kick to the groin!

your truck's already black everywhere.

A little spilled oil won't even be noticeable.

read owners book that came with the truck. or take it back to the dealer and ask them if you can watch how they do it so you can know how the next time.

lol.. I've only detailed my truck maybe once.. wax and all.. I usually give it a quick 15 minute wash at the nearby self-serve.. maybe about once a month I'll bust out the lambswool and handwash it..

So what do you guys do about draining the oil..? Where do you take the old oil.. Does Autozone or something take it.. what do you store it in to get it there?

Just pour it in the street and put some rocks over it.

this way the road department dosen't have to oil and repave the roads as often.
