pc tv tuners

So i set the house up to stream tv to the media extender (xbox360) but i found myself extremely agitated the quality went to crap because my tv tuner resolution is 720x480, i thought non hd signal from direct tv was that resolution but it looks worse using the tuner.

soooo, whats a good brand in this realm? i see a lot of avertv and visiontek listed.

Hauppauge. They have been the industry standard for many years.

hmm never heard of that one.

i guess the next question is pci vs usb and which model is best bang for the buck. i think its gonna have to be a dual tuner or whatever it is that allows u to record a show and watch another at the same time.

Always PCI, PCI-E is even better if you have a PCI-E motherboard. Better bandwidth and less impact on system resources.

i believe the 975xbx only had enough pci-e for my vid card. so now im looking at the hauppauge hvr 2250. if i could find a price on it. it sounds like the only one that would truly record and play different channel at the same time

oh also, why is media centers guide retarded? all the listing was wrong. family guy was on and it called it friends...

You have three PCI-E slots and two legacy PCI.

The 2250 is $129.99 at Newegg, $149.99 with remote and two IR blasters.
