Post terrible day

well i had to be at school at 8 this morning and we were supposed get 6-12 inches of snow, well when i left at 7 we maybe had 1 inches. I got about 3 miles down the interstate which was mainly clear in the right hand lane. I was running about 40-45 and all the sudden the rear end swung out to the right side. well i did what i should have. I cut the wheel to the right and pushed the clutch through the floor and got on the brakes lightly. well i slid across the left lane down the embankment on the left side of the interstate as i slid to a stop i barely missed a huge culvert. I got out everything looked fine and my tired were still inflated so i mangaged to get back to the road and kept going along. after that excitting trip i talked to my dad , and went and got new tires. I had been complaining about my sucky good years since i got the truck and now i have some better tires. when i left work i noticed that my lower bumper is cracked and messed up some i will post pics when i get them up loaded
all is okay though
i am fine
and only the plastic got broke.

Well, I had a chance to test out my stock Goodyear AT/S in the snow and ice today. I thought they did quite well. No sense of being loose. If the roads were covered in snow or ice, I had it in 4WD. If I could see the asphalt at all, I left it in 2WD. I use to have studded snow tires on my Ranger so I know what a good winter tire is like. For being what they are, I was impressed. They still have lefts of tread left and are only 9 months old, so that probably helps. I don't particulary like the traction in the rain, but they do pretty good in the snow and ice.
I did find that I don't like ABS in the snow. I like being able to lock them up. However, I can get them (just the fronts) to lock up by hitting they brakes just enough to lock them and the ABS seems to not kick in. If I jump on them hard, the ABS does it's thing. It's kinda wierd, but I wonder if that's how it was designed to work.

At least nothing was too damaged on the truck. Do you have LS? Mine does, but it didn't seem too tail happy. What tires do you have?

Add some weight in the bed of your truck, over the rear axle. That should help.

i had weight in the back.
probably close to 300 pounds.
i had the stock godyear wrangler A/P's on it
they sucked on wet pavement and were worse in snow.
i got new tires though.
they helped a lot.
didnt slip any at all today.

Well Cooltrucks sorry to hear about your trouble but so far my Goodyear AP's have done well on ice and snow but on wet roads they don't do very well as we got plenty of ice in west TN yesterday and I was able to get around with no problems and I just have a 4x2 and regular rear end not the limited slip I would like to have.
