I'm not much help to ya...I end up driving around the block until I'm late. There is a new thread here somewhere with a lifted Excursion that has cameras all over it? That's quite an extreme though.

Cool

i have an easy solution. i dont park near other cars. I would rather walk than park in a tight space.

Just a personal prefernece, but I try to park away from the general "crowd", if you know what I mean. I try to look at it from the other guy's perspective, i.e. his panic when he sees my 4x4 wedged up next to his vehicle. Besides, I'm a little particular when it comes to door dings, etc.

As far as parallel parking, unless you have an extended cab with the long box, they're not much harder to park than say an 70's full size car. Practice, practice.

I'm with Cooltrucks, park it out of the way with one side blocked and the other side as far form the next spot as possible. 9 months and no door dings so far. If you had a 4x4 I'd just say pull it up on the curb

I park by ear -- and have a big decorative hitch cover.

Actually, I DO have a sonar sensor ($40 at Meijer) in the garage (I back-in, so wifey can pull the Windstar in forward). It works quite well (Green/Yellow/Red lights).

Wifey parks by telepathy -- not yet perfected.

LOL @ "I park by ear"

I sort of park funny but it gets the job done I have a class III hitch and a good push bar!

jan, those reverse sensors are awful expensive.

Much cheaper to do like me. I just strapped old tires around my truck like a tugboat.

Now I'm whipping through the parking lot like Poop Deck Pappy.

Working downtown, I get the pleasure of parallel parking or backing into tight spaces in the pay lots. At first, I was very timid, now, I park like some sort of parking super hero. Sure, it may scare the women and children when they see me flying in reverse into a spot, but I too, have a trailer hitch

Indyfan, does that mean you remember Ed McManus of WAVY TV Channel 10?

I use the Park by Pucker method.

It's similar to when I hike close to the edge of a cliff. When a certain muscle puckers, I'm close enough.

P.S. This one was for Raoul.

Tina: I sure know what you mean by parking a CrewCab SuperDuty! The very first weekend I had mine, I went to a friend's house off-campus, and surprise! The lot was full, and there was only one spot on the street.. Talk about a crash course in parallel parking. (actually, I find it easier to park than my old 93 Explorer!)

After a while it becomes second nature.
