Exclamation warning

"Web Accelerator Users:
Please disable your web accelerator before entering this site! With shopping-oriented websites in general, you'll often find yourself buying more than you bargained for if you use web accelerators. Proceed at your own risk!"

I don't use those since I'm using DSL at home but I know some people that use these things on dial up... Got this from a site that was advertised from iNBC or something

Web accelerators (and other freeware) are often loaded with spyware. That means you are not secure. These proggys are still 'phoning home' even when disabled, so I would just uninstall (if it lets you) the darn thing and be done with it.

I had to reformatt hard drive to get rid of one that came with nutscrape! ...and it wasn't any faster with it anyway.

If you are surfing and see a banner that says "you are surfing to slow, you need our web speeder-upper (or something to that effect)Click here for free download"
DO NOT DO IT!
They have various names, but all contain spyware. Go-zilla and some free music players do too.
Just stick with what you have, unless you are ready to get more software to remove the spyware.
I have many links on this type of thing, but the most useful info a non-wizzard can get, would be HERE

I know Apple computers send user info to a server called buddy.apple.com or something, Apple said it didn't exist but when you type in the URL the server asks for a code to get in, strange?

I'm not a wizard with this stuff, so please excuse the dumb questions. I just bought a new Gateway. I'm still feeling it out. Could I have an accelerator on my computer and not be aware of it? And if so, what do I look for? Thanks in advance!
