Ringtone Convertor

I'm trying to find a program to take some of my songs from itunes and convert it and take portions of them to make ringtones so I can just upload them to my phone. Seeing if anyone has one or knows of a good one, and free.

What format does your phone require?

Takes Mp3

All I have to do to get them on the phone is take the SD card out and upload the songs straight to it.

You can use iTunes itself to make the ringtones then. It's even easier if the original files are already in the mp3 format. What format are the tracks in?

There's a great little freeware out there but I can't find it to save my life... called audiology or audology or something like that...

Using that freeware, you can load a MP3 and clip out portions and save them as their own MP3. You can also clip portions, link portions, and do just about everything/anything to a MP3 that you'd want in order to make it work with your phone in the way that you want it to sound...

It's very versatile and easy to use -- and I can't find it anywhere (it was on my old PC and I never reloaded).

Someone here will know what I'm talking about... I hope. I'd like to get it back too.

Audacity is an open source project, here's the project page:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Audacity can save anything as a mp3 as long as you install the LAME mp3 encoder.

You can make your ring tone, just make an account, upload your song, and then figure out where you want your start and end point. It's very easy to use and makes good quality ring tones. Then all you have to do is open a page on your phone browser, type in the tone number, and download it right to your phone.

I've got one called MP3 Trimmer that works great. You can monitor and cut any section of song you want to use as a ringtone. It's a shareware. They allow you unlimited trial period, then you can buy it for 10 bucks or something like that.
