I have no experience with Direct TV. I have had Dish Network for 3 years. After 2 1/2 years my receiver start acting up, it would just go blank and say searching for signal, eventually it would come back but it was quite frustrating. I called dish network and they told me there was a problem with the type receiver I had and they had me do some troubleshooting to no avail. The same day I talked to them they sent me a new receiver free of charge and even picked up the postage. I was shocked, I thought I would end up with the usual "it's out of warranty" statement. Needless to say I am very happy with dish network.

It was a no brainer for me at the time I chose a system. DirectTV had Speedvision and Dish did not. That may not be the case now. But that was my reason at the time.

Picture is great! No complaints.

I've had the DirecTV system for almost 1 year. It was a no brainer for me as only DirecTV has the NFL package. I can get EVERY game EVERY SUNDAY!! It's Awesome! Since I live in the land of the low life Falcons, I got sick of seeing them lose every other week. When they played at home, we got a black out, which sucks even worse (or did it??)!

Have had no problems with the system. As others have reported, I lose the signal during heavy rain storms. Picture on my 43" SONY is great with the S-video connection. It was a little sub standard before with a regular connection, but improved greatly with the S-video.

Dish Network has all the same stuff too now. I like mine fine plus if I am not mistaken there the only ones still making a unit with a UHF remote so you can multiroom the box with the same remote (not direct line of site Infra red type). Direct used to and someone may still have one but Dish was the first to and still does. Have had mine for Four years no problems with the equipment.

I put Direct in at my Moms house and it's about the same in quality picture but she lacks some of my most favorite things I get in the basic package of Dish. It's a trade off I guess.
