GW and barry meet the marines
Wrong... watch the video in its entirety.
OP was cruising around a star wars nerd site
(never really liked starwars)
2 different settings, 2 different atmospheres. in a war zone is a LOT!!!! different than in garrison. i am not a lover/hater of either, they are my boss and i have lived/live with that. but dont use this example as a base line for how the military respects or disrespects the CinC. that is idiotic and a slap in the face to us that serve.
i did serve. i do not consider it a slap in the face at all. if i were still in boots i would dislike it immensly that he would be commander in chief. lets see how you feel when he cuts back on military spending to balance the budget like clinton did and carter did. the guy that sent me the video was an army SSG. we both have friends (many) that are vets or active duty. it is no exageration that 100% do not support the commander in chief. to top it off the guy was never even in the military. he has no compassion for what you go thru. i do believe that bush genuinely cared about the troops. when he shed a tear it was real. if this guy sheds a tear it will be for the cameras.

I think you misunderstood what he is saying. he is saying that it is not an exaggeration to say that not everyone of them(100%) supports him.

My mistake.
That is what happens when you try so hard to stir the pot!

When I was in uniform, you had to stand at Attention while Hail To The Chief was being played. When told to take your seats, that's what you did. At the end, when you see an Admiral stand up in the front row you did not not hoot and holler.
Looks to me like a formal ceremony is the same today.
That is different from a surprise visit in a war zone, when the prez in shirtsleeves and no band, is introduced by an intro that encourages spontaneous response by a formation at Rest.
As I stated before, comparing the two are disingenuous.
I think the video is trying to discredit Obama's 63% approval rating while ignoring the 28% rating Bush left with.
The difference in percentages may not be so stark in the miltary but, the video is just trickery on those not familiar with military custom and is not the wild swing being portrayed.
