Cool What do you do to keep from being stoped?

I was just wondering what everyone else does to keep from "feeding the bears" (getting a ticket).
I use:

Whistler Radar Detector that picks up all types of radar and laser signals.

Cobra 29 WX/ST CB radio that has been tuned to project 32watts

Texas Star cb modulator which adds another 75watts of power to the cobra.

And Sharp eyes!

I just get into the left lane of I-285 where the flow of the traffic approaches my truck's rev limiter anyway!

I swear, much of it has to do with blind luck. I think the best thing is to be inconspicuous: no bright colors, in-state license plates, and don't drive like an idiot. That's just in traffic. Out in the open? Try to resist temptation.

Aren't in-vehicle scanners illegal... that was up North anyways.

Jolly, what kind of range are you getting with 107 watts?

I'm not sure anything works good enough. There are always times where cops can get you. It's just luck I guess. I go to UT in Austin and my girlfiend goes to school 230 miles away. Needless to say, I haul *** when making this weekend drive. It's a hilly trip and I got busted coming over the top of one going 90 in my old exploder. I have a good radar detector, it has saved me every other time, but this cop knew not turn his radar on until I was too close. It was at night so all he had to do was watch my headlights get closer and closer until I was too close to slow down. Darn Texas State Troopers!!! The worst thing was he gave me the ticket for 25mph over the speed limit, and here in Texas you can't take defensive driving to get out of it if you are going 25+ over the speed limit!!

Have a gorgeous-volumptious blonde sitting in the passenger seat. Then you'll probably only get a warning, UNLESS it's a female cop.

My F-150 looks suspiciously like a little green Chevy Cavalier. Not lifted, not lowered, no snug-top or nerf bars. Two F-150Online stickers on the back glass, and Texas Plates that read "TAMSTR"...Dave says she'll be a truck when she grows up.

Hey Dave, I know that hill. I believe me and a few others had our trucks on that hill. I was shining my lights on everybody that night We need to go back there, that was awesome.

Back to the subject at hand...

I've been stopped by just about everything over the years: Road-side radar from ahead of me, road-side radar shot in the back from an officer parked on an on-ramp, instant-on in-car radar (I was driving a bright red Porsche and he let me go after checking out the car), by a motorcycle following me in my blind spot, by an airplane (a "bear in the air" with a stop-watch, using those paint strips on the road).

Oh ya, by two roadblocks (one, they were looking for two hold-'em-up perps in a similar car, but they took my radar detector anyway; the other, it was Christmas bust-a-drunk time and I passed with zero per cent).

So what do I do to keep from being stopped? Ahhhhhh. That's a good one. Lemme think. I guess, try to avoid any of those situations.

Cool

As far as the scanner. I mostly drive in Oklahoma and Texas and they are legal.

As far as the CB. In perfect conditions I've talked as far as 15 miles. Usually its about 4 miles with all the air trafic on the interstates.

I forgot to post my record. I was stopped many times in high school but I've never been stopped for more than a headlight or tailight in the last 8 years. I've been driving for 10 years and I've never been given a ticket.

Bird Dogs (Radar detectors) are worth the money for a good one but I wouldn't have my record if it wasn't for my CB. The truckers usually let me know where they are at least 5 miles before I get there.

Nothing is 100% sure, if the cops run low on donut funds everyone is fair game. Here are a few tips that will increase your escape chances:
- In state plates. Out of towners are just mobile revenue transporters.
- Studies have shown that a dark green is the most non-threatening color. A bright red Lightning is a ticket magnet.
- Drive inconspiciously. Don't be the first wiht headlights or the last, stay in the right lane, don't haul *** through heavy traffic, don't change lanes every 5 seconds and pass on the right. Speeding in School zones, residential areas with kids and the like is an absolute no no. Act like Joe Average.
- Do slow down when seeing a cop. But do it safely, don't lock up all 4 wheels trying to get the speedo back into double digits.
- Have good advance warning ESM. Radar detector, CB, scanner, IR laser jammer or a black trans-am running ahead of you.
- Your attitude determines if you get away with a warning or 'fall down' the muddy embankment during the field sobriety test.

No offense to all the intrepid law enforcement officers out there.

Fritz
