Yet another reason not to go to the Golden Arches. I haven't been in one in years and I highly doubt I'll ever go to one now. Just think. The employees will not come to your aid if a thug confronts you. Let the killing begin at McRonalds!

I don't want to sound cold hearted, but McDonald's didn't shoot this kid. The guy he attacked did. It was very heroic of him to do what he did, but nobody at McDonald's charged him with policing the premises. If he'd done the same thing off the clock, and down the road somewhere, who would have to pay then? If he was doing his job, and some guy came in shooting up the place, then I can see worker's comp having to pay his medical bills. Micky-D's shouldn't be dragged across the coals and demonized for this. I hope the people making this a public attack on McDonald's end up in court for trying to damage the brand.

This doesnt surprise me,

In a local burgerking here, I had to take it apon myself, as a customer, with my mother and young brother there, to remove a bum, hassling every table there for money.

I removed him myself, and told the lazy *** clerks that MAYBE they should call the cops for **** sakes. The responce I got was "They do that all the time, We just let them be until they leave..".

I shook my head. And never returned. Is this how we should feel in the food court of our favorite resturants? Vigilanties have to keep watch to keep paying costumers safe and free of hassle.

Guy should get his medical payed and more for protecting his resturants reputation. ****ing dolts.

Not saying what the guy did isn't right but...

If you are an "employee" you cannot touch a "customer".
It's a liability thing. That why some businesses hire security guards.

Loacally a guy got fired from a grocery store for running down someone who had shoplifted something from the store. He chased this guy down the street and tackled him. He got fired for his trouble.

It's messed up I know. It is what it is.

Yet another sign of our society going to hell very fast. It's pretty sad this young man saw a grown man hitting a woman and came to her defense and got shot. I bet had he not come to her defense she would be suing Mc Donalds because it happened in there establishment and none of thier employes did anything. I'm also willing to bet it would be more than 300K...more like 3 million and she would get it. All this kid wants his medical bills paid...pretty yellow bellied of Mc Donalds if you ask me.

I mean for *** sakes they can pay some woman how $$ much because she spilt coffee on here lap?

Whether he was doing his described job or not, unless he was clocked out or fired, this is an injury that he recieved while at work on work premises while on the clock working. Going through the lobby at mcDonald's is a regular part of the job, and he may have felt like he had to do something for his own defense, the guy was belligerent and hitting someone already.
Chasing someone down away from the store, that's one thing, but to be shot right there on the property while on the clock, that's another.
I was a manager for years at McDonald's, it had it's ups and downs, and this does not surprise me. There's a reason they make more money than anyone else, they cut corners any possible way they can, and this is a corner.
Morally and ethically, they owe this kid. Technically, it's iffy, but we will see how it goes in court.

Just one more reason to hate that place. I can't even imagine what the hell they are thinking in denying this hero his compensation. Hell he should sue for the damn rights to that place and shut it down....
