Nothing is free. That free surfing stuff is loaded with spyware. They SELL your surfing habits and other personal info to advertisers.
I pay 45$ for three months of dial-up (pretty fast) and all my info is private, plus I don't have to give him my credit card #.

Wink

Thats why you don't put your real info in the sign up form
BTW most pay ISPs ask for all your personal info AND a credit card #.
They also log all the sites you visit, how long you are online etc.
AOL, by far the most popular ISP (don't ask me why) is especially bad about this.
With free ISPs you can surf anonymosly.

AOL is popular because of 2 things. Advertisment( you know all those free cds and free hours) and ease of use. I use it for now and it is easy to use. However, I am about to switch to DSL because I'm tired of the modem. Sometimes they take forever and they tie up my only phone line whenever I'm on.
