Total bummer, man. But, to clarify (and to justify me editing the title of your thread), your Expy melted due to a fire -- not caught fire.

Looks like a cheap fix. You should be OK.

Sorry to see this man, that sucks. It makes you wonder what else was affected that you can't see. Like BJ said the window regulators, what else??? Has the paint integrity been compromised? How about the molecular compound of the tires? How about the wiper arms, components in the engine bay, on and on. Legally you would have to disclose this if you were to sell it (clearing throat) and that's not going to help your resale value, imo.

On the other hand maybe it's not so bad (the damage that is) but I know what I would do

Wow... it's not that bad.

Did anything inside get damaged?

I'd also have those windows replaced, as the heat might have damaged them.

Listen to us, we're all worried about the Expy, how about your cousin's house? Now that REALLY sucks. (not to degrade your situation of course) What happened there?

You've got a great point...

He also said when he opened the doors, there was smoke inside. That right there is a bad thing. Cigarette smoke is one thing, but the compounds that are emitted from when plastic burns/melts is harder to get out.

As far as the tires, I'd say get new ones. I would think everything else would be fine... but it depends on how hot things got. I'd think the engine compartment would be fine, but you never know.

All I gotta say is that this sucks for you.

So do they know what started the fire? I'm really curious...
