My latest Rant
http://www.fortunecity.com/silversto...anetclick.html
Was that guy condescending or what?
I especially liked this part:
"... we're doing everything possible to make sure your site won't be promoted on PlanetClick.com -- either by inclusion in our Top 10 lists or search results."
Like I am supposed to feel bad? I got a feeling people won't be flocking to use their site after the first time there!
Like all the webmasters should rebuild their pages for PlanetClick compatability!! (or technology or what ever they want to call it)
It does the same thing to F150online too, if you try to click where it will open a new window.
Damn they just wouldn't dare let a window open, would they? Like a bad relationship where they just can't let go.

Computer geeks often speak in the manner described. Allow me to translate:
"rather than screw up your site when people visit, we'll remove it from our lists and search function".
Of course, that's just my opinion- I could be wrong.

You think if every member (6000+) wrote them and told them "they suck", would they get the idea

Well Nomo, they can't not list me, because they get most of their search listings from Google (which displays my site just fine as AltaVista, Yahoo and many, if not ALL others)
Secondly, I found the problem lies with their "Stay-in-frame" technology, which not only won't open a new window as MOST sites like F150online use, but a site when veiwed in their frame, is 'seen' as an attempt at 'outside linking'.
Since most free sites like ... GET READY TO SCREAM FOLKS ... Fortunecity, GOECITIES, ANGLEFIRE (more are being added each day) are BLOCKING OUTSIDE LINKING OF PICS, NONE of these sites will display properly.
Anyone with a site that blocks outside linking sould write PlanetClick and tell them you are unhappy with the way they underhandedly trap the visitors of your site, and require your server to allow outside linking in order to diplay your site properly.
Since I store all my site pics on Zing for backups as well as outside linking, I could simply change the pics addresses on my site to the Zing ones and my site would display properly. BUT then ANYONE would be able to come along and link to my pictures too!!!
BTW the 'contact' thing doesn't work on thier site, but I did a little digging and got the email address where the technical problems would be sent to, if it did work: webmaster@planetclick.com
Put 'BUG REPORT' in the subject line.
*I bet they wonder HOW in the heck they got my messgae when they appeared to have deliberately disabled the only way to contact them!!! Ha! They are also guilty of UNDERESTIMATING ANDTHENSOMETOO!!!

On Contre Nomo, I don't want anyone promoting my site while at the same time F'ing it up!!!
The only way they can stop listing me is to stop using Google's search engine, which they won't, because Yahoo and AltaVista now use Google as well and they want to be competitive. So they will continue to list my site and display it all F'ed up!!
What they need to do is FIX their code.

Hey, kiddo -- not bad for a Soccer-Mom!
Just copyright your pages and prohibit their being included in any un-authorized keep-in-frame BS -- and when you find them in violation -- send them a not-so-friendly letter from an attorney.
Two can play.

No Go quzax,
I did try it though. I studied their codes (as best I could) and discovered they have a code that disables java. Thats why I replaced the java 'open in new window' code, for html 'open in new window' code for the links on the on the Mi Area Ford Trucks Board. It still won't open the page in a new window when you click on a link, but it will display the new page. and it no longer says error when you go there through PlanetClick. The background and other images are from Zing which allows outside linking, So other than not getting a REAL new window that site displays error free now.
Btw, To quote a geocities webmaster, The ***** has hit the fan over at Geocities: They just implemented their "No outside linking" software and some sites were deleted entirely for outside linking of 'non-content'!!! (in other words if it is in your data base, but not on your pages, and you link to it outside of the site, your account will be terminated)
Angelfire announced last month it too will be implemnting this procedure as well.
I already checked some F150online members sites that are Geocities and they also do not display in PlanetClick.
Bottom line:
Sites that use javascript IN THE HEAD IN OF THE PAGE, the script will be disabled and display 'code errors'
Sites that block outside linking will not display pictures, backgrounds ect.
My site, as do a lot of others, uses both!
Thanks for trying though!

OK Here it is my kill anything frame breaker script. In doing more checking into this little thing (thanks for bringing it up ATST) www.planetclick.com is in violation of copyright laws because they are actually changing the source code of the page. But any who since i'm only one poor man & can't afford to sue them, although I may try. I have just come up with this little ditty of code. If it sees that your site is in frames it will open a new window with your site in it. Only 1 problem I don't have the syntax for the "show the tool bars & such" correct so they don't all show up. I'll fix that tomorrow @ work. So here it is, have fun any questions mail me quzax@my-f150.com or me@briankohles.com:

Isn't there someway you could just populate the address property and refresh to break out of frames instead of opening a new browser window. Maybe using the window.name property to get the name of the current window and then using the window.open() method.
Something like this perhaps:
window.open("http://www.yourpagehere.com", self.name, "toolbar,status,resizable")
format is: open("url", "windowname" [, "windowFeatures"])
the features are optional, but that is also how you can turn your toolbar on.

Yeah I did try it (wondered if you had IE or NS) and it didn't work. Keep in mind their code appears to absolutely disable java located in the head of the document, having to do with new windows.
If there is a html code that would do this, that would be (sneeky) great. But I supect that all their time and experts that money could buy went into disabling the java, and if we find a html code that will do this, they will build another one.
I think I will inform them they are violating copywright laws and to refrain from changing my scoure codes while displaying my pages.
Is there a lawyer in the house?
