Political cartoons as a rule are clearly defined, there’s no point in being vague unless that is your intent.
Symbolism is labeled to tell the story in a single pane.

Six of the ten have written text showing who is depicted.
Rosie is easily recognized, yet he writes ‘Rosie’ across the bed.
There would be no controversy had he written ‘Congress' across the monkey.
But, that would have taken away the Edge, the Bite, the glee of the neocons.
Or, he could have "...grew some and manned up" and wrote 'Obama' across the monkey.

He knew exactly what he was doing, Mission Accomplished.

I put up with a lot but, I abhor intellectual dishonesty.

 

I thought it was common knowledge that Pelosi and her comrades wrote the bill. I saw the cartoon and did not even think of Obama. I think that everyone that sees racism in the cartoon is actually being racist themselves. Why can't you look at the cartoon the same way you look at the Bush-monkey comparisons? They were comparing him to a primate to make fun of his intelligence. Why can't this one just be making fun of Comrade Pelosi and friends? Not to mention.... this was the day after the chimp that attacked its owner's friend was shot and killed by the police. Come on people!!!

 

nobody knows the intent of the cartoonist. It can be percieved many different ways. Some people may see it as racist, some people believe we ALL came from monkeys, some people can think it was linked to the chimp that was shot for tearing that lady up.

I saw it and immediately thought it was racist, but thats what happens when you are in a position like that, you get cartoons made of you, get over it. I never got upset when people called Bush a redneck, hillbilly, or a cracker (all racist terms). Eventually people will need to realize that everyone has the potential of being racist, even african americans.

But evolution is the core of racism toward blacks. According to people who believe in evolution think there is an order of things. Racism toward blacks in a big way uses evolution to prove that black people aren't as "evolved" as white people. I believe that God created us all. We are all descendants of Adam and Eve. As time went by and we inhabited the earth, humans adapted to the surroundings they live in. Adaptation is NOT evolution. Do you understand what I am saying? Or are you going to have some snappy come back and insult?

 

Looks like I too am in the minority... utterly tasteless.
