Ruger SR9 9mm
Ruger SR9 9mm
I didn't want to hijack the other "gun" thread...does anyone have one of these pistols? I've got my CCW, and am looking for a "carry" gun. My S&W Model 19 and Beretta 92FS are really too big for that, but will work great in my KR! I am looking at 9mm, simply for the ease of not having to have numerous sizes of ammo around. I know all of you "experts" will say the 9mm is not powerful enough etc., but if you hit them enough times, they WILL go down!
Thanks in advance

9mm is fine. Has about half of the velocity of a .40, but within 20 yards it is enough to stop someone, especially if you shoot them more than once like you said.
Those SR9s are awesome looking pistols, I checked one out not long ago but opted to go with a .45 acp instead.
Nothing wrong with a 9, though. There is a high-grain bullet that has an especially nice punch for the 9 now, too.

Before you buy an SR9 test the trigger. Some have good pulls, some have horrible heavy pulls. It'll vary from gun to gun and a weaponsmith can't fix it. That's what I was told at the gun store the other day (and they do sell the SR9).
My friend has an older one, but some of the older ones have issues with the drop safety, where if you drop the gun, it may discharge. When they fixed that issue, they developed the trigger issue.
Don't know how much $$ you're looking to spend, but the Springfield XDM 9mm holds 19+1 and the .40 holds 17+1. The XDM is probably a little big for a daily carry IMO.

The Springfield is a great size for Concealed Carry. I spent around 500 on it. If you want to go a little cheaper, Taurus makes a Millennium series that are sub compacts and great for concealed.
I have huge hands, and the SR9 felt great.
Ruger = full lifetime warranty even if you buy used, too, so no real worries about all of that.
Springfield is nice, though, but IMO, Ruger > all. =D

Thanks Pickup Man I DO appreciate the input. I did not ask about Springfields, and the like. I was interested in this particular gun. I was not aware of the lifetime warranty, could be a deal maker.
Thanks again
