quick question

heres what im working with..

i have an 03 supercrew with a 5.5 ft bed.

i have an 02 polaris scrambler 400 with an overall length of 74.5 inches, and a wheelbase of 49.75

i was towing the scrambler with a little carry all 4x6 trailer, behind my jeep, but now ill be using the truck, and im looking to just load it into the bed.

question .... how much length does the bed extender add? i just ordered one but the ad didnt say. is it 2 ft?

reason i ask is because i want to get the longest atv ramp possible so itll be easier to drive it up into the back of the truck. but i dont want the ramp sticking out of the bed past the bed extender on trips and what not.

ive pretty much decided to spend my money with discountramps.com, just dont know what length to go with. im looking at the tri fold ramps.

thanks

most bed extenders go out to the edge of the tailgate. so you have from the front of the bed to the edge of the tailgate, minus the width of the tubing.

theres a possiblity of the bed extender not working because of the width of the fourwheeler. the bed extender you probly lose 6-8" of width and remember the extender mounts at the skinniest part of the bed so you really do lose width. and as for ramps i think we have 5 1/2" foot ramps and they are to short IMO. its driving pretty steep up to get into the bed of a 2wd f150. i would get atleast 6' ramps. and there is really no need for a bed extender IMO, just strap the quad down with a few straps and then use a piece of rope and tie down the ramp, i always traveled like that with my dirtbike. and i would also just throw all my gear into a gear bag and throw it in the bed and would never have a problem about the bag moving.
