anyone have this particular new unit? seems like a good deal at 229 and the only sticking point for me is the lifetime traffic at no charge. seems they have adds that will pop up somehow? anyone see this and are they really noticable? it has big screen, blue tooth, street names spoken etc.....

I bought one for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. She is not a technoligicly inclined person and it is very easy to operate. As far as the adds she hasnt said anything about things popping up while she is driving.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 250 or 260 (I forget) and I love it. It has the big screen and was easy enough for my idiot brother to use when I let him borrow it.

I have the 255w which is the 265wt minus built in traffic and BT. Works awesome, and I added the traffic through the MSN cord. For that price, I would jump all over it.

if your looking for a gps in the 200$ area... get something with a 4.3'' screen. tomtom, garmin, or magellin. it doesnt sound like much of a difference from the usual 3.5'' unit for that price, but trust me... go for it.

i have a tomtom one xl

all pretty much the same, but magellin doesnt support changing your icon (like on my tomtom instead of an arrow, it an actual picture of MY red supercrew ).

doesnt sound like a big deal, but believe it or not it was a factor for me.

in that price range they all have turn by turn directions, the DONT have text to speach (where it says the actual street name instead of just - turn right in 500 ft... which actually isnt a big deal for me, because my buddy has text to speech on his, and its annoying because instead of saying elm street, it says elm s t ..... and thats gay), they wont have bluetooth at that price, they wont have the live traffic or live weather.

you can find no name brands with some of those options for that price, but dont do it. you can hang on to your garmin or tomtom for 10 years and still get map updates for it, where as some navigon crap unit will be dead in a few years.
