Question Naming problem

I was at the dealer today getting serviced and had some time to walk the lot. Ford seems to be going after the 'Robo Cop' look with all these chiseled sharp angles on the Mustang, Explorer, Windstar and Focus. Aren't they going to have a 'name' problem when they do this to the Contour? Also, isn't the Mercury sister car called a 'Mystique'? Isn't that French for 'Mistake'?

And I think new 2000 Windstars have eye-liner or eye lashes, it's scary.

"I was at the dealer today getting serviced" -- hey, Raoul, what's that about!

I know Ford is trying to improve its customer service image, but I thought it was only the vehicles they were servicing. Are they servicing the customers now too? I want details!

I'm taking my truck to where you go next time.

Black 2000 SC short-box XLT. 4.2V-6, 5-speed, 3.55 limited-slip. CD, remote entry, factory side steps, FORD box liner.

My third F-series: '73 F-100 Custom 240-cube 3-speed, '98 F-150 XL-SC 4.2 5-speed, and '00 F-150 XLT-SC 4.2 5-speed. GREAT trucks!

Cool

When the Service Advisor tries to sell you on the 'Differential Service' - just say NO!

Now that you mentioned the names - does anyone actually know what a 'windstar' is anyway? Is it the opposite of a black-hole?

Raoul,

So that's why they are getting rid of the Contour!! They could not keep the name if it has no contours...just angular metal.

From what I have read the Focus is taking the place of the Escort and Contour.

My wife had a Contour and it was a mistake to ever buy it so I am sure the Mystique would be a mistake also.

Shifter,
I enjoy the Mobil "Lube Express". Is express better than quickie?!?

Well... this is the same company that designed a car directed at the female market and called it a "Probe".

How does Suzuki explain the Grand Vitara? Car & Driver said something along the lines of he must be the Emperor of some distant galaxy.

BlueFlareside: Last time I tried the "Quickie", they played around with my ball joints and drained my rear end. Not what I call great servicing, IMHO.

DBDave: I heard Suzuki meant to call their cute-ute the "Grand Viagra" and target its advertising at older males. Changed the strategy, apparently. My next-door-neighbour has a Grand Vitara and one look at her and you won't need any Viagra, that's for sure.
