Post A new F-150

O.K., I think this is probably the best spot to post this, I hope. I'm SERIOUSLY thinking of getting a new, well, '97 or newer F-150. I'm keeping my old one if I do, just for Mods and toying around.
I want the basic, like XL, nothing fancy. But, definitly want the 4.6. I would love the 5.4, but you can't get a Manual with it, and I'm not into Automatics.
I was wondering if there is anything I should look for when looking at a newer truck. Like, this door crack problem. I'm not familiar with this, and don't know what to look for. (Or, if it will happen later). I'm sure there are adequate mods for the 4.6, its been around for awhile, so I'm not worried about that.
I like exhaust, so I have to ask, because if I do get a truck, it's going to have straight pipes, dummy dualed out the back. Does the 4.6 sound good?
Did I miss anything? Is there anything else I should look for?

Thanks a Bunch

Thumbs up

Good luck on finding a 4.6 manual!!! I had to order my last one. There's been a few serveys done here and most people that have the 4.6 manual, had to order them that way. That being said, I had a 97 4x4 SC flareside 4.6 manual w/Limited slip & skid plates. It ran pretty good but really didn't have much "pep" to it, after all, that configuation is pretty heavy. I added the K&N air filter, a 40 series 2chambered Flowmaster Cat Back and a Superchips chip to it. That 4.6 really woke up then. You were asking about mufflers. The Flowmaster 40 series is LOUD. Especially when shifting (either up or down doesn't matter) Only if there was a cop near me, would I take it "easy"!! Mine was a single in/single out 2.5" And I kept it in front of the rear tire. People were VERY shocked at the sound coming from it and I noticed quite a few would look for the tail pipes (in the rear) but never find them. It sounded sort of like a Harley so you can't get no better than that
You can find manual 5.4's but you would need to look for F250's These would most likly be work trucks but you may be able to find one easier than a F150 manual.
