Brother in Laws Chevy may get bought back.

Thought yall might enjoy a Chevy bashing story.

So, My brother in Law bought an 08 Chevy 3/4 ton with a gas engine. He bought it about six months ago, and has not been happy with the engine. He drove to Chicago to buy a 10k pound trailer to pull his race car. On the drive back, he got around 5-6 miles a gallon.

He was pretty pissed about this, so he took it to the dealer. The dealer could not find anything wrong and told him to contact Chevrolet. They would not even look at the truck without it being totally stock. He had to swap his aftermarket tires with a buddy so that his truck would have the original size tires.

Chevy sends down an engineer to inspect his truck. The engineer says something is wrong and to give them thirty days to figure it out. So, he is not even driving the truck at this point. Why? If Chevy buys the truck back, they are going to charge him the mileage he has put on it.

Thats all the info that I have for now, but for those who are interested, I will keep yall updated. It may end up being fairly educational and interesting.

I agree, he agrees, we all agree...well, everyone one except Chevy.

Chevy engineers do agree that something is wrong with the truck. I dunno why they need 30 days to think about it, and then get back to him. Strange. If they cannot resolve the issue, they supposedly will buy it back. He wants to swap for a diesel.

Yep, he is a Chevy *****.

I told him that if Chevy wanted to know what kind of blind allegiance that he had towards them, I would gladly be a reference. He said no thanks, but I don't think he caught it.

Texas has what has to be the worst Lemon Laws. Yes, it is a requirement that you pay for every mile used by you as reported on the dealer delivery invoice. The rate was 58 cents a mile but it may have changed lately. Getting an attorney to fight it costs YOU, not GM, and you won't win. Seen it many times including Fords. When it comes to owning and carrying a firearm, Texas is tops. When it comes to getting screwed by the auto makers, Texas is the pits.

The purpose of the first law is to help citizens fix the second one.

they will probably not buy it back off the bat. They will more than likely find what's wrong with it and fix it. Even if it means putting a new engine in. I don't think this would qualify as a lemon law. Most states require that the dealer has about 3 chances to fix the same problem. If it is still not resolved then you can "try" the lemon law.

Talked to the B in Law, the service manager told him that Chevy is having quite a few problems with trucks like his. He also said to wait about thirty days, and then start the process of getting GM to swap trucks with him. My B in Law was told that to start the process, look in the owners manual. WTF?

The whole thing sounds fishy and weird.

I don't know. Before I bought my current truck, I was looking at diesels, just couldn't justify getting one, plus I couldn't decide. I was torn between the F250 and 2500. Chevy makes a great diesel from what I have seen, and backs it with a great trans. My brother had a 2500 crew, and that thing was bada$$. All he had to do was load up his bully dog, floor it, and it would just roast the 33s or 35s that were on there, like they were nothing. I've heard nothing but good things about the duramax. They are quite as hell too. I like the sound of the Powerstroke, but think it might get annoying if you heard it in the cab the whole time during a car trip.
The F250 looks alot better IMHO which is why I wanted one. What held me back was that dang 6.0. Heard lots of bad stuff about it if you plan on mods.
Heck, I was 2 seconds away from picking up a 7.3, (which is what I wanted), lifted on 37s. But it was never regearded. Had about 120k, and the trans felt a little funny. Was hard to do, but I passed. Man, that thing was sick though. Oh well. one day I will have my F250, until then, my 150 suits me just fine.

Back to the original post. 5-6 mpg. WTF, I would of been so fired up, probably would of punched a hole in the roof by the time I made it home. Ir atleast made a pretty good sized dent.

im not saying anything is wrong with chevy's but if i bought any vehicle and it was getting 5-6mpg when it was supposed to be getting 11-12 atleast and then they were saying buy it back i would be turned off from buying from the company again for a while. and he has the gas model i think not the diesal
