pulled over for tinted windows...COME IN!!

anyone been pulled over for tinted windows?

my truck has had 13% front tints since 06...and today there was a cop on campus and told me hes giving out warnings for people who have dark tints and start giving tickets next week...he also tried to get me for my tires but he chose not to, so i thank him for that!

my question is..will it be a citation? or fix it ticket?

and for people who have gotten pulled over, what you guys do? take them off, then put them back on?

im in cali btw

Here in NC if I was to tint mine below 30% They would pull me and depending on there attitude make me cut and pull it off right on the spot, or just ticket me.

They hate tinted windows around here the cops really don't have alot to do and a big reputation to live up with so they find that little crap!

As far as I know if your caught a second time it just gets worse for you.

Going back 14 years for the time when I was pulled over for this. Had a Porsche, was VERY dark tint, flew for a little while but one night, sure enough, there was a cop who had an issue with it. I got off with a fix-it ticket.

To be honest dark tinted windows are a safety issue for law enforcement. I see their point when they ticket folks for dark windows. When they are walking up to a vehicle they have no idea what is going on inside if the windows are so dark they can't see inside.

You know you aren't doing anything wrong and don't have any intention of "hurting" the officer, but they don't know that.

With that said in your case, if you decide to take off your tint and put it back on later... don't you think the same officer will bust you again after you replace it? If you do take it off why not just replace it with the legal tint? Could save you a lot of time, money and headaches down the road.

I just removed the tint from my front two window's yesterday. The local cop's have started inforcing the tint law's so I decided to do myself a favor before I got a ticket also. I only had 20% on mine but the legal limit is 35% around here.

Yeah, I do understand the issue, that's why I didn't complain too much about removing mine at the time and haven't gone crazy with it since.

well, soemtimes when you get pulled over its a hit and miss with cops, either the locals will let you off with nothing, or a sheriff or state trooper will just bust your ***** about it, so far i go pulled over like tiwce both of which times had nothing to do with the tint...

the first was this local cop who just warned me about a burned brake bulb then since it was night time just said to "be careful and slow it down with them windows"

the second time i had this sheriff monkey try too pull his "superior fuigure" bs on me giving me lip about speeding and the tint and i asked him exactly how much he paid for it (his angered silence: priceless), then ended up getting a warning to get it removed "or else next time" but whatever im never gonna see that stooge again, and if i do ill just be all like "dude i got it changed" then see what happens lol

Drive with the windows down at all times?

Nah theres going to be a flaw there, might as well take it off if you know you will get busted for it soon.

When i lived in maryland I got pulled over in my old car that had 15% tint on it. The cop gave me a repair order for it. I had 30 days to get the tint removed and i had to take it to the police station to prove it was within legal limits. On my truck that i have now i have 20%. But it is registered in florida and i live in louisiana. So if i get pulled over and they give me Sh#t i just tell them florida legal limit is 18%. So they cant do anything about it.

The girlfriend just got one for her tint last month. She took it to the station down the street and asked a cop to sign it. He asked if she took it off. She said yes. He signed it and it was some like $10 bucks from there. That was in NorCal btw.

They really don't enforce tint stuff around here. The campus police might give you crap, but we all just brush them off and laugh.
