need a broadband usage meter

i'm thinking about getting a wireless card for my laptop and want to see which option i should get.

I would be going with verizon if i decide to get the service.

right now i pay $30 at my condo for a month of unlimited usage however sometimes it's slow as hell and won't let you access some websites.

verizon has a 500mb($30) and a 5gb($60) plan.

any good free meters?

VZ includes a "meter".

You can check your current usage just by clicking on the button in VZ manager.

I've been on VZ wireless broadband since August after leaving Wildblue (they suck major a$$).

Haven't gone over yet or even been close.

Sorta off topic, but sorta on too, I'm with alltel (soon to be verizon) i have a blackberry pearl with the unlimited data plan and i have a program that allows me to plug my phone into laptop via USB and use my phone as a modem. Its the same a wireless card, except no charge.

This is called Tethering.

I know in Canada that tethering is NOT INCLUDED with the unlimited data plans of some carriers. So before you move carriers take a look at their terms.
