Either take a piece of white neutral wire and jump the neutral and frame bars or simply take out a lug in the neutral bar,get a self tapping screw long enough to go through the metal frame of the box and tighten it up on that bar. That will jump the grounds and make your wiring safer. This is done so that if you lose a ground on one the other will take over.

If it's that new you should be able to run that puppy off a extension cord no problem. Have you checked the little fuse on the board? It's like a 7 amp or something.

sounds to me like you may have been missing power on something else that the furnace needs to allow it to send the gas.

Do you have a draft inducer? Did it have power?

Is there just the two power wired going to the furnace?

If your draft inducer wasn't running your furnace will never light. It should run off of the same power as the furnace but I"m not sure.

The ground wire makes no difference at all on operation. Just safety.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I would get a professional HVAC person out to help you figure out how to get it going on the generator.

You can easily be killed by electricity if you don't know what your doing.

WHy tell them. Tell them after the last Ice storm you decided to buy this generator so you called them to ask how to hook it up.

DOn't tell them you already tried./

the service switch is a switch for incoming power from bb, and no-this will not void the warranty-unless you tried running it by 240volts,and if ya diid, board would have fried,btw- the boards are polarity sensitive to 115 v...

i called the company that put my furnace in and ask about running it off of a generator. they said turn the main breaker off. use a 10 2 wire and put male ends on both ends. plug one end in the generator and plug the other end in the plug the refrigerator is plugged in to and the furnace will work. does that sound right?
