NY,NY
I'm heading to the Big Apple in a few weeks and wondered if any of you are from there or have been there. I have reservations at the Marriott Marquis for three of the nights but they are booked for the other nights. Anyone have any suggestions for a hotel, preferably in Midtown near 45th and B'way?
Someone mentioned the Edison and I plan to call them today. I'm open to any thoughts and opinions on this.

Try the Milford Plaza , I hear it is nice. A rule of thumb about reserving rooms in Manhattan, do it at least 12 months in advance, there are not enough rooms to go around. You could always rent a room by the hour around Times Square, of course a 'girl' is included
.
Call the Marriott a few days before you arrive and check on any cancellations, see it they have a wait list too.
BTW, what are you in town for?

Thanks for your suggestion! I tried the Milford and they are booked too. I made a reservation at the Edison. Kinda scares me that all of these hotels are booked except the Edison. Only one night, so we'll see. I don't plan on doing much sleeping anyway, schedule is pretty full.
I'm in town just to do the tourist thing. I try to go somewhere different every year. Last year it was Arizona. (Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sedona, Flagstaff, and the Grand Canyon (El Tovar)) in 5 days. I've been trying to get a job in Scottsdale ever since.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to visiting the city that never sleeps. The only thing on the schedule I'm having difficulty with, other than hotels, is finding a firehouse to visit, some of the oldest stations in the country are there. Also an Off-Broadway play to see, I have tickets for Les Mis already. Maybe stand in line for the Late Show.
Thank you again!
