glass question
glass question
Hey guys,
A while back I bent one of the wheels on my truck. The damage was all on the inside so you can't see it. But obviously it can't be driven on. Any who, I want to use this as a base for a coffee table. It is a 22inch Boss 313. I have a 24 inch (in diameter) sheet of glass that I want to put over it to accomplish this. My question is what can I use to seal is with so it doesn't move. It should be pretty well balanced since there is only a 2inch difference but better safe than sorry. Should I use silicone, something stronger maybe to seal it up real good? Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
I was just gonna use duct tape but I decided than since I finally moved out of the ghetto and bought my own place I figured it was time to upgrade

I would get a few of those clear little round rubbery things to place on the lip of the wheel to keep the glass from sliding. If you put some kind of seal around the rim to hold the glass on there you'll be able to see it through the glass and it probably won't look very good. Plus you'll probably have a hard time removing the glass to clean/dust the rim every once and a while. Since you'll only have a 2" overhang you should be fine.
Good answer. That is my suggestion as well.
Just let the glass rest on the rim, and have the stickies there to keep it from sliding if it gets bumped into.
i like dave's idea. use the clear rubber bump things and stick them on the glass so they fit inside the rim but the glass cant slide around.
i dont think an adhesive would be good because moving the table might be a pain and you might want to keep that rim polished every once in a while.
