Dave, maybe thats what is is, I can't remember for sure, never seen one myself, have seen a 429 though.

My dad had a cleveland in a '71 G. Torino, said it would haul, but it used oil terribly. The best mileage Ive heard from the 300 is about 25. The best I ever heard with a 351W is about 15. The best I've heard from a 302 is 24, the best I've heard from a 460 is 16. Not too bad, best I've heard from the 4.2 is about 25, the 4.6L 21, best from a 5.4L is 19, v-10 is 15. So if my truck had a 4.6l instead, dare I guess I would get >25mpgs? Best I've ever gotten is 22.1 although, now I hope this summer for 23.

I wouldn't be sure of that!!!!!!

The pre-99 5.4L had the same torque as the 351. 5.4L 235hp/330ft/lbs 5.8L 210hp/330ft/lbs.
the lightning had 240hp and 340 ft/lbs for 1993. I am not sure if it was a MA system or the SD system, If it was a sd the laters would gain at least 10-20hp and and arond 20 ft/lbs. the newer 5.4l most likely would beat the 93, but not by much

*I think Ford made a 429 that was a SOHC design too, alot of racers liked that, and they also made a 429 that used the 460 block.

That 1st Gen Lightning also had 4.10 gears.

Past - I think Ford's big block OHC was a 427, and it is extremely rare. The Boss 429 was also a great and highly sought after race engine.
