Post Parking Lot Self-Defense (and Revenge?)

Just wondering what measures other members take to protect their vehicles from the inconsiderate morons who bash and ding up your prized truck in parking lots.

It seems that even if I park a mile away from anyone else, when I come out of the store, some dork in a dirtball POS vehicle has parked next to me. I ALWAYS check to see if they've banged up my paint. Had one fat ol' hog bash my running board and then flat-out deny she'd done it!

Had a friend once who came out of the shopping mall only to find the front bumper of a Pig-O-Lac bashed thru the plastic grille of his vehicle. The jerk didn't have the shame to back out and reposition his Caddy. My friend, who worked construction, went into his trunk, took out a couple 5" spike nails and a hammer and drove them thru the Caddy's trunk deck!

Stories of revenge would be welcomed,as well as measures you've taken to thwart the jerks.

Maybe it's my own fault. Have you ever SEEN the people in a Wall-Mart on a Saturday? It's like they opened up the doors to the asylum.

Thats funny jaymz, we have a Wal-Mart here. Three days after buying my new ZX2 an a$$hole dented my door with his!! That got me mad but what can do? Now with my truck I try to park on a corner, 2 wheels on the grass and the other side reaches about half into my parking space. This gives room for inconsiderate people to slamn open the doors. If this is not possible, I will try to park on the side of the road.

I will be getting some nerf bars sometime this summer, this should help alot!

Geez Dude at least use use a "no-show" method.
I once did a thing that left no traces or fingerprints, just four flats and a empty radiator. But it was about ten years ago to someone that was following me. I would never do that usually!
When someone dinged my door (while I was in the Truck) I got out and they denied it too, so I called the police, and they got a ticket for leaving the scene!! They had left after I called. The police tracked them down and ticketed them as well as filled out an accident report. If someone hits your Truck IT IS an accident even if they are parked!

Assuming you mean the nails story, it happened a very long time ago.

Just upsets me when you take care of something and have it wrecked by others...

The call-the-cops thing is good advice, I think. What with cell-phones so prevalent these days, it would be easy to get their license number and call. Of course, if they deny it, who do the cops believe?

FYI: many police departments will only respond to parking lot incidents unless there is an injury (to a person) or a hit&run. If you are in a non-injury TA, exchange info with the other party and report to your insurance. PD's no longer want to write "insurance" reports cause it's a waste of time in most instances. So, if your vehicle is damaged in a parking lot (and no one is injured and it's not a H&R) don't bother calling the police.

You want to get even with someone whose damaged your investment?

Break toothpicks off in their keyholes in the door.

Splash paint remover on the horizontal surfaces of their ride.

It does the job.....

I saw a very funny Candid Camera episode where they parked cars on either side of someone so close when the guy came back to his car he couldn't even climb in his window.

It was hysterical.

I saw an ad and a website for this product that hooks up to your door to prevent door dings. You would have to put it on everytime you get out of your vehicle. I think it was like a padded strip that hooks to your wheel well and then attaches to your door before you shut it. Looked pretty decent in the ad bu I thought since I live in sunny Florida, that the strip may leave a "tan" line (no fading under the strip.

I always park in the back 40 nowadays. But in the past...

1992 Ranger Supercab pulled all the way through a face to face style parking lot at a golf course. A van pulls in behind and runs over the strip into my rear end of the truck, idiot puts it in park, doesn't even back away. I get done golfing and notice this, push in the clutch and mine rolls forward cause this jerk is up my Rangers ***. Apply, one mallet style putter to van headlight at sufficient rate of speed...miss...1/3 of grill gone. Reswing and bullseye the target. Golf partner ****ting himself looking around for owner, calmly remove my spikes and drive away hoping the cops get his *** for improper equipment.

Couple years later in my '94 Splash Supercab(loved that little truck) again at a golf course park at end of lot in last spot away from next parking spot and partially in area white striped ///// off to prevent people from parking too close to street and others turning into them. Get done golfing and some ******* in a (yep) van has parked in the striped ///// off area tight to my baby. Check it out and sure enough the idiot has slammed his door into my fender leaving white on black paint(was never able to get it all off either). Did the key walk down the side of the cracker box and left.

I got my first ding from some a**Hole the other day. Haven't even had my baby for 3 months. Right hand side of the truck right in the middle of the door. Big nasty one. I was pissed. I tend to park way out in middle of no-where next to some other nice rig to help protect my baby.

A good friend of mine, who is coincidentaly (spelling??) a cop, was at a mall when some one parked so close to her car she had to get in the passenger side. Her driver side door "accidentally" swung open and hit the guys car many, many times, with massive amounts of force. All accidentally of course. Then she proceeded to leave him a very nasty note expressing how ticked-off she was using many colorful words I have never heard. Bet that guy never parked so close to anyone again.

Sorry for the long post but it is good to know they don't always get away with it

One of the guys at school just got irritated that someone banged his camaro. We have security camaras at school so he decieded to be sneaky about it. So he got some kind of seringe and filled it with paint thinner. Put it in his old coat pocket, and stuck it through. As he walked by the offender, he just gave it a sqeeeze. He said it shoots amazingly far. And I know it works when a new blazer has bubbly paint on the hood.

Hey jaymz,
This may help you and other members out with parking.... it's what I do. Like you stated in your post, you park far away. Next time park in the center of a painted divider and take two spaces. Sometimes I even park at an angle, so my truck completely takes up both spaces. If someone still parks right next to you. Your truck will be at an angle, so when they open there door.... they hit nothing but air!
I'm not for sure if it's illegal in your state, but I never had any problems. Especially if there's plenty of parking and I'm a bit away from the store. Just an idea for you and other members to try. Works great for me.... no dings on my truck or previously owned vehicle.

Marv1, The police DID charge them with a hit and run beacuse they left, after I called. The cops showed up and saw the dent and went and got them.
Funny the people denyed it after I got out of the Truck and pointed out to them that they hit me with their door. They then went in to 'shop' (it was at apple orchard) and when they saw me standing there by the cars and using the phone, they came back with out buying anything and left.
