PC slowing/lagging?!

Been noticing this for the past couple of days. Mainly when I'm online... my CPU usage as shown by one of my sidebar tools (Vista) drops to 0% for a few seconds, and everything freezes. Can't change websites, screens in different tabs... everything just takes a lil hiatus, then comes back.

Thought maybe it was something related to a recent update, so I updated everything (even though my PC updates itself once a week).
I regularly clean out histories and misc stuff. Disk clean-up/defrag, etc.
Also use CCleaner to get rid of unecessary crap.

Could this just be internet server related (Optimum Online) or is there something I should check internally?

TIA.

I am not sure on how to fix your problem but Mine (Vista also) has done that a few times to. Screen goes blank, whole thing freezes up and can't even restart it sometimes. I have had it since Aug. 08 and I have had to recover it about 3-4 times now!

Had the same thing, turned out to be the power management trying to put the hard drives to sleep. I turned that off, everything is better now.
