16 Hours Later
Well, four tanks of gas and 16 hours of driving, I got my dog. An English Springer Spaniel. I actually broke down and let the wife drive half of the way. I was used to paying $1.59 for Super, man in Pennsylvania it was 1.76!!!! Holy smokes. Man, I love my truck, but she got 3 tanks of regular. Boy, never again though. Doesn't drive the same. I got some spark knock, and it's not as snappy on the throttle as usual. I feel real bad, and am filling her up with Super tomorrow. To make up with her, I'm getting her new spark plugs too. I got 41,000 and it's time for new anyway.
Anyway, she drove nice. You don't realize how nice your truck REALLY drives until you spend 16 hours in her. It was well worth the drive though. I have the nicest most laid back puppy I have ever seen. Purebred, and the breeder is letting me register him with an unlimited registration, meaning I can breed him, and show him with no limits. Best part.... I paid $300. A local pet store wanted $700, a local breeder wanted $800, and some other breeder which must be on crack, wanted up to $2,000 for a liver and white dog.
Well, I hope I didn't bore anybody. I'm just happy with the drive (truck rode sooo nice) and lovin my dog. Oh, and pissed off I put regular in my rig 'cause it was cheaper.

Good move going to a breeder in Pennsyltuckey. I breed Shetland Sheepdogs for a while and got the stud from a breeder in Jonestown Twp (almost to Harrisburg). You got a very good price, gas included. A bit of advise, take the pup to the Vet ASAP, many Pa breeders don't let a Vet see their welps. Mine had not and had worms and still had dew claws(not sure if Springers should or not). Don't let the Vet talk you into worming the pup until you had him/her tested. It could Kill your pup, one of our pups got wormed by new owner's Vet, after testing negitive by our Vet. That puppy, now 17 months, is having all kinds of problems. All of our Pups were examined by 2 Vets at 2 weeks and 7 weeks and had clean bills of health.
Also, don't let the Vet talk you into buying any food or vitamins from him. Almost any name brand puppy food should do, Consumer Reports rated Walmart's dog food tops in all points, we used Pedigree Puppy. The only things you should buy from him is something to clean his teeth, must have chlorhexidine in it, plus heartworm treatment and flea and tick control skin treatment. These 3 items are considered pharmecuetcals and can not be purchased OTC in NJ.
Are you going to bring him/her to our meet?
If so, I'll bring my sire, he loves to play (nice), the bitch plays too hard for a pup.
Have you named him/her yet? How about Triton? You can pick a Formal name for his/her AKC registry and call him/her something else.
Good luck with your new Puppy!

Wonderful puppy story, I too have run across breeders that must be supporting a drug habit
How did you find your pup??
I checked your sig: do you have a superchip??? I didn't see one listed. You have the same truck I just sold except I had the 4.6 5speed. Mine was even the same color and a flareside SC 4x4!!! I added a 40 series Flowmaster cat-back, superchip, BOSCH +4 spark plugs and a K&N air filter. You wont believe how much that 4.6 will wake up after these mods!!! NIGHT & DAY difference!!! Boy, did I love that truck. I keep a picture of it in my new truck!!!

Sycoholic - listen to Tina. She knows of which she speaks. My 4.6 simply came alive (see sig.).

Well, the breeder was actually in upstate NY. I went through Pennsyltucky to get there. I found him on http://www.breeders.net. He didn't try to sell me anything. He gave me a couple days worth of food, and treats, (all Purina One), and a leash and collar. This is the last litter from the female. She is 7 years old and he is having her spayed. He is starting over with one of her pups. Had the pup a couple days now, he's doing great. Very calm. (Not too calm though) I'm debating training him for a field dog. I miss going out rabbit hunting with my grandfathers beagles.
Oh, and I might wind up bringing him to our meet. I haven't seen the exact date and location were gonna go to yet, but I'm hoping to get there.
