My fleet is growing!!

Well I added another Ford to the family. I bought a Black 1995 Probe GT that needs some work. I bought it as a beater just to keep the miles on my truck low especially cause its a lease. That plus the Mustang doesn’t come out in the winter or bad weather. Well the trans is shot so I pulled the motor and trans last week and I’m rebuilding the trans at work and putting some new gaskets on the engine.

I know the transmissions and distributors are the weak links in the car but does anyone have any experience with them?

you sorry SOB. Probe's are maint hungry cars, but addicting to drive.

Good info at www.ProbeTalk.com on their forums though...

theyre a bit awkward to work on sometimes, but if you keep it stock it'll treat ya fair i suppose.

check ebay for good parts, and check the PT forums for yays or nays on certain ebay items. one of the good items on ebay is a cold air intake, it gets the air filter pretty low and away from heat BUT be aware of water puddles.

motor mounts/tranny mounts are high priced and hard to find sometimes, window urethane works good for "repair" work on those.

Avoid the rev limiter, the KLDE has the stronger retainers on the valve BUT they will fracture and break eventually because of their casting mark tends to crack.

there is a great vendor for some oem quality parts at probegarage.com (redirects to his new name, gummygrip.com)

any questions feel free to PM, or browse PT. i've spent countless hours on my car i bought, 93 gt that bounced off an unknown object before i found it.

every time I see a probe on the road I keep thinking that it's missing a sticker above the word "probe"

I did that to a buddy in college, it took him 6 months to figure it out

oh i forgot to mention, probetalk.com isnt exactly friendly to new posts on problems most of the time for some reason. since its an old car they figure everythings been gone over by now and is in a thread somewhere. for the most part they're right but i thought i'd mention that so you dont feel put off when someone snips at ur questions if you ask any
