2nd Amendment Rights

Got this e-mail the other day, thought I would share if you haven't already seen it.

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. (waiting for attack)

The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either.. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

1. Don 't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics are poor.

3. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him 'Why do you carry a 45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46.'

6. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my shotgun.'

7. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

But wait, there's more!

I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said, of course it is loaded, can't work without bullets!' She then asked, 'Are you that afraid of someone evil coming into your house?' My reply was, 'No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too.' To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank

Better write/e-mail/and call your reps and or those on the Senate committee (http://judiciary.senate.gov/about/members.cfm) and ask them to OPPOSE Eric Holder's appointment as the US Attorney General.

Those were pretty good accept for the loaded gun one. I Know a guy who had a 30-06 and he thought it wasn't loaded. On Christmas day, his cousin gave him a nice new gun strap. He was trying to put it on the rifle and it accidentally went off and shot him right in the thigh. He was flown over to the nearest hospital where they had to amputate his leg because of all the damage the bullet caused at such a short range. That evening a blood clot went into his lungs, killing him.

No offense, but he died because he is an idiot. If the man didn't know that his own gun was loaded, then, he is an idiot. I have 13 guns (hand guns, shotguns and rifles). I know exactly, at every moment, which are loaded and which are not. Even knowing this, I still check every single time I handle any of my firearms or anyone elses that I may handle. It is just common sense.

The truth has been spoken. I over check all of my guns...just in case.

All pistols are loaded (clip), but none are chambered.

The guy was not an idiot, it was just nature doing as it intended. (natural selection)

at work all of our guns are loaded, but theres a difference in being loaded and having a round in the chamber...thus its still safe to have the gun "Ready" to be fired, but not where it would "accidently" go off.

Replace "accidentally" with "Negligent". I've had one before and thank God no one was injured save my pride. A valuable lesson was learned there. Sorry to hear about your relative though, that is unfortunate.

We stay at my friend's brothers place in Johnson City when we go down for the Bristol spring race. There were five of us standing around a fire out back of the house BS'ing one night about 3 years ago when the one guy (local friend to my friend's brother) pulled out a S&W 629. It was handed around to a couple of guys on the other side of the fire from me when one of the guys pointed it at the fire and pulled the trigger. Needless to say he didn't think it was loaded and it was. Everyone bailed out onto the ground. The guy just stood there kind of shaking. My buddy took the gun from him and unloaded it. The guy left shortly thereafter. Nobody was hit, thank God.

Bad deal all the way around. Moonshine and loaded firearms in Tennessee. Yeeeehaawww!!

Good post Johnnyd

Any firearms that are not in my safe are loaded but not chambered. If I had children in the house that would be different. The only firearm thats loaded with 1 in the chamber is the one I am carrying.

Good post OP

1. All guns are loaded (we should behave as if this were true)
2. BOOGER PICKER OFF THE BANG SWITCH!!! (unless ready to fire of course)
3. The muzzle of a gun shall NEVER point in an unsafe direction --- not even for a second!

Number three is the biggie. I can't tell you how many times I have seen people who were handing a gun briefly point it at others or themselves. I get indignant every time.

Gun owners need to really pay attention to what bills are brought into Congress after Jan. 20. Someone posted on another board information about HR 45 the other day. I havent researched it yet.

Remember that the gov't is likely to use crisis to try to take rights away. They allowed the bill that legalized derivates and credit default swaps get passed while the election fiasco was going on after the 2000 preisdential election. Obama is no friend of gun owners. Do not be deceived.
