BandWidth????=$$$$
I read the WebMaster's comments on bandwidth being expensive. One in particular, he said to stop linking photos from other peoples sites to his forum. Now I linked an image from an off-road site from my area and of course immeadiatly removed the image from my post.
I am not a network expert so I read on the subject at: http://www.vislab.usyd.edu.au/photon...capacity0.html and now I think I understand what Steve E. was talking about the costs and such... More bandwidth (users loading the pages into their browsers) means more hardware to handle the data transfer.. (Am I correct or should I reread?). This is why he stated to have respect for other people's web sites and not link their photos to the forum. My question is: Is o.k. when its a free hosting company like "homepage.com" (If they didn't block this sort of thing).
Another Question for the WebMaster is: How can I change my habbits as a user to reduce cost to your site. I try to keep only one window open to your site at a time, And will NEVER link an image from your site to another. Besides "copyright laws" I know, but I was talking about bandwidth.
(I am going to buy those stickers---and parts from the online store as soon as I can)
Any way this is pretty darn long, so if you read this Steve E. I only ask out of the greatest deal of respect to you and your work.
I don't know if you ever get tired of hearing this but: Great site! and many many many many many thanks to you and the people who support this site.

Where are the Webmaster's comments on bandwidth I must be missing them. Linking an image will not effect the f150onlineserver it would only affect the server that the images are stored on. It will also affect the person who is downloading the images. This is not that big of a deal in the US but is a huge problem in other countries.
As far as where to post pictures for linking. Just use any of the freely available servers (geocities, etc.). In addition I will be opening a small site here in the next month for F150 owners (my-f150.com) It's whole function will be to store & serve image and info on everyones trucks. Additionally it will generate the necessary line of code to use an image from the site onto a UBB board.

Thats what I meant. Linking images from other people's sites to here.
Here are the comments:

"Just a request, let's be courteous of other people's website bandwidth and not link to images on their site. It costs them $$$ every time you do that. Thanks!"
https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000040.html
But the subject was not mainly for linking images it was for finding out what we do that wastes F150Online's bandwidth. I just wanted to find out and stop doing what ever I do wrong to help out Steve by being a better member. I mean I see some stuff like useless posts such as tests for the Sig. I'm not pointing fingers because I know not everyone is a IT professional just like I know nothing about this sort of thing.
PS. Can I be one of the first ones to post a pic of my truck on your site...

You sure can be one of the first to get an account. We are currently working on the admin section so adding pictures will be really simple. When it's finished in about 2 weeks) it will be opened for beta testing. I"m going to allow about 20 F150online members in on the beta test. THen after a week or so i'll open it to everyone. Send me your email address & i'll add you to the beta list.
