Dimming Headlights in Drive-Through
When we were at Arby's the other night, my wife asked me to dim my lights.
I said they are dimmed.
She replied that when you are in a regular car the trucks headlights are blinding because of how high they are off the ground.
At that point it made sense and I put my parking lights on.
The driver in front of us seemed to be pleased.

Well I was never bothered by lights from a truck behind me when I use to drive a car and don't dim mine on my truck but I'll hit the high beams if I get flipped off by someone.
I too dim my lights while in drive-thru. But out on the road they're on along with the fog lights.

Don't laugh, but in Japan it's common courtesy for drivers to turn their headlights off while idling at stoplights. The idea being you don't wish to offend the drivers opposite you waiting on the other side. Light turns gree, lights come on, and away everyone goes.

I also dim my lights whenever appropriate. These trucks DO sit up high and the lights are blinding. Whenever I drive one of our cars and an F-150 or another 'truck' pulls up behind me...their lights about blind me.
So this helped to remind me to dim the lights whenever possible.

When I have to wait at our lovely freeway ramp meters during rush hour, I'll turn my headlights off if the car in front if me is not another truck. No sense in making them angry at me and I remember how I hated it when I drove a car! Besides, if it saves a person who has already had a bad day from "road rage", then I guess its a good thing to do.

I always turn my headlights off in drive-thrus.
I also stop back a bit if I'm in a straight thru or left turn lane so the folks in the right turn lane can see past me without having to pull out into the traffic lane. Don't you hate it when you're in the right turn lane and a big delivery truck is blocking your view to the left? Well, to a car, our trucks look like a big steel wall.

I too try to turn them off or down or to parking lights when appropriate. I also have them checked for alignment everytime I get the oil changed. I just hate to have someone coming at me that's been nice enough to dim his lights but one of them is aimed at me and is still managing to blind me!!!
Funny you mentioned that Tina--- I occasionally get someone who has dimmed their lights to *flash* their brights at me because they think MY brights are on. My front lights are in alignment (factory bulbs)...it is simply because my truck height causes the headlights to give a bad or bright impression.

I usally do whatever I feel like doin. I mean hell, if they don't like it, could be worse. It really depends on what is in front of me, if it's a Chevy, then all my KC's come on, same goes for Dodge. If it's a rice burner, I usally do the same, but then use my spot light too. Actually I'm just kiddin, I seldom use my spot light

Hey, I even had the same problem with my 88 Ranger...everyone thought I constantly had my "brights" on. I don't know, but it seems like Ford aligns their lights higher than normal. I only have a 4 X 2, but still am constantly flashed as if I had my brights on.
Seems to me like most pick ups are this way.
