Post Winston Cup Cars

I surf the Nascar site and various boards. Basic body shape and engine blocks are the only chacteristics that resemble the street cars or manufacturers. A V8 isn't offered in the Monte Carlo, Tauras, and Grand Prix and they are all front wheel drive. I am a big Robert Yates and Bill Davis fan. I can't believe people are actually brainwashed into thinking that because Jarret or Gordon win often that Chevy or Ford are better cars. It's the teams that make it happen, not the Big Three. If Robert and Doug Yates went to Chevrolet they would have the Chevy to beat. GO 28 88 22

All the guys who have had their bells rung several times are slowing up. Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart have been in wrecks but haven't seen butterflies and stars like Mark Martin, Bill, Dale E, DW. Being one of Bill Elliot's mechanics has me beat as far as lifetime accomplishments. I have one of Bill's T-Bird hoods from a crash he had while driving for Junior Johnson.

Psycho,

You about scored it dead center. The young and very talented drivers haven't been rolled upside down yet at 190 mph.

Kind of gives one a new perspective on life when it happens. Elliot has "been there, done that" many times and doesn't have to prove anything to anyone.

If he wants to just go along for the ride and watch the view it's OK with me.......

Again, Ladies & Gentlemen, I offer my services as the fearless dictator for life as head of the ABG Club, that's the "Anybody But Gordon" Club. I feel so much better now that racing season is back!!!

Psycho-
Yeah, it's been the highlight of my career so far. It was a one time thing, set up by a good friend/customer. I didn't do that much work, but it was the best four days of my life. On that fateful day, on lap 86, Dale Jarrett blew his engine in turn one, spraying oil all over the track. Kyle Petty got loose in the oil and lost control of his car. He spun-out and slid up the embankment backwards, right into Bill Elliotts car, sending Bill into the wall at close to 190 mph. Bill was airlifted from the track to Loma Linda Medical Center in Fontana, but suffered only two small fractures and a few bumps and bruises. The car was totaled. The crash brought out the red flag. By the time it went green again, we had the car in the garage, and just decided to get it ready for transport. We had to cut quite a bit off the car in order to fit it in the trailer, and I got to keep all of the parts (fenders, quarter panel, radiator, etc, etc, etc.). It was truly the fastest four days of my life. Bill is quite a man.

Take care,
~Chris

Jeff Gordon is about the nicest guy you'll ever meet. My wife works for Pepsi Cola and we met him at a promotional party. I find the "Goody Two Shoes" types nauseating. I am a member of the anyone but 24 club. Little E is another one that irks me. Most spoiled rotten, born with a silver spoon and an attitude types, **** me off.

I was playing GT2 and got the Taurus SHO. I bought the race modification, and now it looks like Mark Martins car, BUT, it's still FWD. Go figure.
Take care,

P.S. I was a mechanic for Bill Elliott at the '98 California 500, and although he does well when he's alone on the track, he has been getting a little squeemish when it comes to traffic. I still love the guy though. Go 94 !!!

>>>> Just thought I'd pull this back up. How bout that Mcdonalds Ford!! Ol Bill didn't look like he was just out for a Sunday drive to me. No sir, wasn't just riding around at all. Pulled that Yates Rocket all the way to victory lane. Hey, give a gey a break, it's been since 1994 when I could beat my chest over an Elliott victory. Go 94!!!!!!!!
