RCM Error, no light code

I bought a used f150 about a month ago, my mechanic seems to think the RCM is missing from the truck, where is the RCM located (2001 f150 6cyl.)? his code scaner read 3 different codes, one was for a burnt out bulb in the dash, which i have fixed, but there is not a blinking airbag code, if the RCM is missing wouldn't i get a 2-5 code? this truck was obviously wrecked and the airbags have been replaced. from what i've read so far my problem is either a bad RCM, or I need to have my RCM re-programed. I dont know where to look for my RCM to see if it is even installed...

RCM is the Restraint Control Module. Its part of the airbag system. one diagram i saw said it was under the hood, but i didnt see anything that looked right... this module senses when your in a wreck and sets off the airbags, its the brains of the airbag system.

O.K.
But I don't like aribags anyway, I feel they hurt more than help. Especially the SRS. A lot of the research for them was done here in Camden.
But no I wasn't the test dummy.
One of my sons was in a low speed accident, and the passenger airbag broke his passenger's wrist.

true, however the insurance company thinks i have airbags, and if they dont go off in a wreck they will not accept the claim, because that should have been fixed in the last wreck... at least thats what i was told

From FORD 2001 service manual:
Restraints Control Module (RCM)

NOTE: When a new RCM is first installed in the vehicle, module configuration must be carried out. If the RCM is incorrectly configured, erroneous DTCs will result.

The restraints control module (RCM) is mounted on the center tunnel under the instrument panel.

I think it probably was not configured after whatever wreck it was in, the actual unit is probably from a junkyard, the replacement drivers airbag is a little different color than the rest of the interior, the previous owner probably bought the whole airbag system at a junkyard. any idea on the cost of re-config?

also, the rcm is located under the black cover that is between the bottom of my dash and the floor?
