I have been looking into them myself. Have you seen the ad for the Magic Jack, suppose to pay onetime fee then pay a yearly rate?

Haven't heard of Majic Jack, but I'm moving in a week or two and I'm probably going to get vonage as my work/home phone line. I need a line for faxes also.

Maybe I'll check out Majic Jack if it's cheaper. My sisters and aunt have vonage and it works fine, they say.

Their website has a place to check to see if you could keep your number. I entered mine and it said yes mine was available for transfer. Hey Jk007 you said your sisters and aunt have Vonage, have they had any problems with it?

I have seen the infomercial several times and wondered.
It sells for $70 and it's $30-$40 a year to call anywhere?

Sounds too good to be true...

Yes you do.
I love my Vonage service. Pay less than 28 bucks a month compared to 80 on Verizons 55 buck plan.

Here, the Magic Jack is $39.95 and yearly fee is $19.99.
Also, I have Vonage, and it is great. Only issue I have had with it is the POS internet provider goes down and leaves me stuck without a phone. The repairman doesn't show because I can't answer when he calls, even though they know I have voice-over-IP and can't use the phone unless the net is working. Cell service just isn't happening where I live with any provider.
But Vonage, great stuff.

Guys look into Viatalk. They are a Vonage competitor. They have yearly rates that you can buy for $199 bucks. That ends up being about 15 per month. Way cheaper than Vonage.

I used Vonage for awhile, and like them. The quality is good most the time. At times I would feel like I was standing in a giant room talking to someone but only 1nce or 2wice. The bill was usually like above mentioned 28ish dollars never differet. Plus they let me keep the router they sent me when I cancelled to do Charter phone, biggest mistake ive ever made in home services.

Most cell phone providers have something like an signal amplifier or something that works like a mini tower you plug into your house ac that boost their cell signal. Call and ask. Some companies give them away, some sell them.
Worth a look.
