Most of the state funds come from Federal turnbacks. or at least a good portion of them.
So If you live in New York and need to Drive to LA., the roads in between aren't important to you.
That's cool

I didn't intend to kill the thread, I just thought it was worthy of discusion.
I just feel that the central Government can get better designs than each individual state.
Also our freight has to pass through the poorer states to get to the ones with larger economies.
We have 2 or 3 good roads here in Arkansas

Yea we gottem. there are a couple you are allowed to do 65 on.

Man I want that I69 bridge built tommorow. We do need Federal funds for it.
The good ole USA needs that road more the migration. They all run out of road and stay here. Joke The immigrants that settle here are very good people, very family oriented, high ethical standards, better than a lot of the locals. I trust the imigrants that I employ more than some of the citizens.
I also require tax with holdings and pay them equal wages. What the Feds do after that is not my responsibility.

How about the billions of dollars the government wasted by mandating government agencies to buy flex-fuel vehicles, yet not requiring them to use E85 fuel. And to make matters worse they got rid of 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines for larger flex-fuel engines, which they used to burn even more conventional gas (less MPG than the smaller engines) and in addition they put more of their dreaded exhaust emissions into the air.

That isn't the half of it. Washington state has a nearly 6 billion dollar budget short fall. The state is mandated to buy hybrids. They are required to run E85 besides. Now the maintenance crews are having to fix the fuel systems on vehicles that aren't supposed to be running E85. Not to mention the higher initial purchase price. And the kicker.. in the last snow storm.. Seattle wouldn't allow salt to be used on the roads... Seattle is a bunch of big hills. The reason? It might harm the puget sound... a salty body of water naturally. I am getting so friggen PO'd with the stupidity of this country. Common sense has left the building with elvis.

Ever considered moving to the south? Texas is full, but I hear Oklahoma is nice.

We have no problem using salt here on the North Coast---and no problem getting it, either---seein how a huge salt mine as actually located under Lake Erie. Of course, it doesn't always work well, as it will, at times, get too cold for salt to work.

Don't I know it.. growing up in minnesota taught me that.. great place to be from. But when I was there.. winters where real.. since 1982 winters there have been kind of mid southern style... but the winters I knew are comming back.. the earth cycle and all.. despite the global warming crowd. When I left in jan. 1982 there were like 3 days above 0 deg F. Since then it has hardly gotten that cold there.
