Exclamation Ford F Series still NUMBER ONE

Sport Truck Mag October 99 issue.

"The Ford F-series continues to be sales leader for 1999, and, according to the Polk Company, the F-series was the top selling personal vehicle for the past five years as well, based on personal-name-registration data. In comparison, the Ford fullsize truck is at a five year high of 547,482 units, and the Chevrolet C/K sits at 320,818."

GM boys read it and weep.

Hey, this is great ! But, sometimes it seems the Ford folks have their feet propped up on their desks, smoking cigars and saying "we've been the leader for all these years, we don't have to worry about competition...we don't have to make our product better..we don't need to offer top quality service after they buy..they are going to buy anyway".

Honda service?
You mean to tell me you actually got service from your honda dealer?
Yeah love my F150 but Ford needs to pick up the ball on standard features.
Chevy
Tach Standard
4 wheel ABS disc brakes Standard
CD player Standard on LS models (Ford XLT competitor)
Real oil gauge Standard
All this should be Standard on Ford as well.
Still wouldn't trade my Ford for a Chevy

54regcab,
Don't forget that each of those 4 disk brakes has ABS standard too.

Take it easy,

You know, makes one wonder...how do you get 21 years as the best selling truck with customer service being so bad? You think all those surveys with D+ customer service grades would make them improve at this level. After your warranty is up they want nothing to do with you, especially if you didn't buy the extended warranty...go figure!

I hope you all fill out those surveys Ford Motor Company sends you after all service calls at the dealership and make sure to really voice your concerns in the comment section, positive or negative. After all, it is all those positive words that earn the salesmen those leather jackets, hats, bonuses and incentives. How about service? Let them know when you are dissastisfied!!!

Cool

54regcab, are you saying your XLT does not have 4whl antilock disc brakes?
According to the 99 F-series sales brochure 4whl antilock is standard on light duty XLT and Lariat models and they are all 4whl disc for 99

Ron,

Did the magazine give the total number of GMC's sold? Seeing as number 10 was just over 300K, GMC could be at 290K and just missed making the list! Combine those numbers with the Chevy C/K, and "GM" would beat Ford in total sales! Afterall, they are actually the same truck, just different trim! Maybe those figures would get Ford's attention!

I have the 4 wheel antilock.
But it is standard on ALL Chevy trucks, not just the the higher end ones.

Now ron, when you say C/K trucks, do you mean Silverados, or the C/K classic one {98-older look}?
