Post Chevy and GMC have a competitive interior!

I sat in a GMC Sierra 2500 SLE Ex. Cab short bed 6.0 liter, 4x4. This guy who owns a local hardware shop just bought one. Its got this thing where you press a button and it turns the overdrive off but they call it a TOWING PROGRAM or something. and Wow, what a nice interior. The instrument panel looks pretty "C5 Hightech". Its got a message center too. Pretty neat and the leather seats look comfy.
I think its too high tech and like my Ford interior better.

Exclamation

This "Tow/Haul" mode is NOT an overdrive on/off switch. Activating it tells the computer to quicken/firm up the shifts and prolong upshifts until a higher rpm....sorta like an electronic shift kit that can be turned on and off.

Oh yeah....reading your post again....you say you sat in it..but also say the seats "look" comfy. Couldn't you positively confirm if they were when you sat in it?

Take it easy,
Mark

I actually like the Chevy/GMC interiors, some things are better like the message center and the transmission switch that changes the shift program but the thing I like the most is how the cneter console goes all the way to the front of the hump in the bucket seat models. I would kill for an Expedition floor console in my truck. The new GM truck interiors are kind of like a modern version of the seventies trucks, which is kind of cool too. However, as usual the materials are cheap and there are tons of rattly parts. I could never put up with that.

What I meant to say is that when you look at the seats, you know it means business. I knew they were going to be comfortable, then I sat in them which confirmed that!
That Tow/Haul mode sounds pretty cool also.

Cool

I agree the new GM interiors look good, they did a nice job. One thing I particularly liked was the trans temp guage (if it is truly a guage, not a glorified idiot light). Too bad GM couldn't make the body look as good.

When I was truck shopping, I was on the fence.
Chevy does indead have a very sweet interior.
Ford has more truck for the buck.
No chevy 5.3regcab on dealers lots around here.

How about the ergonomics of the interior? I like the F-150's interior. The only thing I have to stretch for are the rear view mirror and the the map lights (really awkward for me to reach). Otherwise, everything else is in easy reach on the Ford.

I think the ford trucks are still rated the best for ergonomics. The dash layout is very slimplified and with all the curves, its alot more appealing than the other two competitors. The new chevy's sure have alot of specialty features, but they need the edge to boost sales, still trying to pass ford.

Lightbulb

If they want to pass Ford they should lower the price instead of charging an average $2000.00 more than Ford.
