Post Who has/uses ICQ?

My freind clued me in on this. I still don't know how to use everything, but when he comes on we can chat while working on other stuff at the same time. Cool for people who only have one phone line. You can "call" them on their 'puter if their line is busy due to them being on line!

ICQ is the neatest thing since sliced bread. Go to www.icq.com and download. Chat, send files, voice messages, etc while doing other things...saves on the phone bill! Doesn't work well with AOL though (yet), but you can't do without it.

ICQ looks pretty cool, but please give your local computer guy at work a break and not use it at work -- man it's so buggy compared to normal business software that it's not worth it in a workplace. The handful of people we've had try to use it here at work can't explain why ICQ is better than a 2 minute e-mail for business communication. It's gotta be a coolness or usability thing...

My wife's girlfriend told her about ICQ and she insisted I install it on the home PC that's connected to the internet (Cable Modem). I had intermittant crashes after I installed it - usually when I was doing something else and ICQ was just sitting there.
My wife didn't use it that much so I removed it from my PC. No crashes since! I use Windows 95.

roadrunner, have you tried Netmeeting? Comes with IE. Works great. I talk, full duplex, with my friends. Works best with broadband connections, but does okay with dialup modem speeds. All you need is a soundcard and a microphone.

I used to crash with ICQ untill I installed version 99b, no crashes since. I also switched to Win 98 SE about the same time.

Cool

I used to get a lot of "**** site invitations" from ICQ until I checked the box that said "requires authorization." But now I found it actually prevents people that I wouldn't mind from contacting me unless they fill out a request form stating the reason why I should authorize them. Dumb huh? Well if any one here wants to add me to their list, just put your "handle" and F150 after it and I will then authorize. Hey I'm no prude, but if I want to see ****, I'm sure I can find it all by myself.
