im looking to get a warm air furnace installed. i currently have the old style gas space heaters vented up thru the chimney..those gotta go.. way to expensive to run and just not practical anymore. ive got about 800 square feet to heat and there is no existing duct work i dont think the chimney is lined so... im thinking to go with a 90% unit vented thru the wall.i know ill need a seperate circuit coming from my basement panel box etc.. anyone give me a rough ball park figure so ill have a idea when i start calling for quotes.
It is very difficult running ductwork in an existing house that has never had it before....If I were you I would consider a 125000 btu boiler and running baseboard throughout your house for warm water heat...If you have 2 stories, it can easily be zoned and each level put on its own t-stat. Plus if you go the warm air route, you will need a humidifier because warm air heat tends to be very dry, unless of course you like arc-ing out to doorknobs etc....Anyway, ball park for hi-e warm air furnace, humidifier, ductwork, installation, and misc can easily be 5 to 6 K if not more....The boiler and baseboard install could run in that neighborhood as well...
lol i knew it wasnt gonna be cheap. i have a 4 unit i forgot to mention that in the first post. the first floor has a 100k btu simple single zone gas bolier with baseboards. all the other floors are the old heaters. its all seperate gas meters and i want to keep it that way. i cant use anything vent free cause those arent allows in mass so... another route is maybye electric baseboard but id probably have to get my service upgraged seeinf its only 100 amps now.

why not put a heatpump in they are alot cheaper to run then gas and it will give you ac. it is about the same price as a gas furnace. you may want to look in to a mini split heatpump you will not need to put in duckwork. here is a great site for hvac.
