Had Some Fun Today!
I got to ride in a 1998 Dodge (yes dodge) 1-ton dually extended-cab 4x4, diesel/5-speed. He wanted to show me, how it attracts attention, so we went to a parking garage, stopped near some expensive cars, and pushed the clutch in and revved hard. About 2-3 cars alarm systems went off when we did it. I couldn't and still can't stop laughing. That diesel vibrates the ground so much that it set the alarms off. Gonna try it with my gasser, someday soon!
I was parking the other day and saw this weiner standing by his big BMW 740, all tricked up with new 18 inch wheels and he looks around to see if anyone is watching him point his little alarm setting/door locking gizmo. I hate the way people think they have to point it at the car like a gun! Just put it in your pocket and go inside! Anyway, I couldn't help myself, so when he was almost inside I tapped his driver door and set off the alarm. He damned nearly wore the soles off his Gucci loafers turning back.

It cracks me up that some people arm their alarms every single time they get out of the car. I work in an upscale community, where there has probably been no more than one car stolen in the last 5 years and hardly any break ins either.
Yet when someone pulls up to the front parking space directly in front of the drugstore entrance at high noon, with 100 witnesses within 50 yards, to run a 2 minute errand, they set their alarm. I mean, is anyone really going to break into your BMW under these circumstances? Of course, the whole neighborhood gets to hear the alarm go off when the big truck goes by.

Well I've also seen the extreme dumb opposite done.
Leave the car running with nobody in it while at the ATM or in the 7-11.
These are the cars most frequently stolen, witnessess or not.
I think the officers on this board can back me up on this.

for me, depending on where I am, I usually don't lock my doors. Our city, (pop 52,000) doesn't have that many breakins. I always keep it in site though!!!
