Used to be Great
I know this is a Ford forum (obviously) but I saw this picture the other day and have been wondering something.
What happened to Hummer??? Their original H1 was such a bitchin vehicle and was probably on the top of most guy's dream car list at one point in time. Now they don't even make it anymore but instead started producing crap like the H2 and H3's.
I'm sure because they're cheaper it's built GM's business up but I've always like the exclusivity of the name brand Hummer.

The last of the H1's were the best of them. Ever since created they always lacked powerplants. The last of them, 6.6 Dirtymax powered were the most efficient and held the most power. The 6.2 was a dog and only good for low end torque. The 6.5T was powerful, but it has its fair share of problems. The H1's only got better with time, but with that came a HUGE price tag. The Alpha's were going for well over $100K and they were bought up quick.
As for the H2's and H3's. . . We've wheeled with them, they get some respect, but nowhere near deserving the Hummer name
Oh, and heres pics from our trip to AM General course. .

While I've always thought Hummers were an embarrassment, I would say their fall from grace was precipitated by going so far downscale that there are no fewer than (4) in my middle class subdivision of eighty homes. Seriously, when any 23-year-old chick with a secretary job can afford a Hummer, its hard to maintain any exclusivity that might have once existed with the brand......
Love the H1, definatley on my dream list.
Ive sat in both the h2 and h3, h3 is smaller then a Ranger inside, but im still curious what the H3 pickup is like. The H2, interests me with its large interior, and with the right styling, it looks ok for a big dollar SUV. Good tires, and clean exterior is good. But you see all the douche bags with 22'' rims and chromed out hummers, makes me shake my head.

22" rims? At the auto show they had them in there with 32".
Dumbest thing I've seen on a big SUV
