Reformatting.

Need to know how to make a bootable cd with the format utility like i use to do with the floppy drives

not sure what you are trying to do exactly or even what OS you are trying to do this with but after 98se I just google whatever OS and they usually have bootable files out there so you can put on a cd especially since the floppy standard is almost completely dead so it's out there you just gotta find it.

yeah you just need an iso file(image file) of the os and burn it to a disc, you dont need to make the cd bootable burning the iso to it will do that, now a usb drive you have to format as a bootable drive

things must be getting more retardedly complex eh?

i have XP Media Center, its acting up and locking up. i've backed up my photos and documents, im ready to clean up and start over.


I have 2 data cd's with the software that came with this computer from tiger direct.
i think my main problem will be trying to figure out how to format it without the floppy. its been that long.

If you are doing a clean install you should have the option to delete partitions, repartition and then format before installing OS. Have you tried booting to your OS cd?

If I recall correctly you will have to select complete install and advanced.
