That is the truth if I ever saw it. Even Canada is going to give these guys billions (I think I heard 7 billion somewhere). Our gift to the poor hinges on the US giving out there money first.

I have to add that I really don't understand the UAW. They won't take any pay cut to bring there salaries down to what the foreign plants are paying. YOUR COMPANIES ARE GOING UNDER AND YOU HAVE BEEN LISTED AS A MAYJOR CAUSE! WAKE UP!

Now GM (I think it was) is closing there plants for 4 to 6 weeks in January and on. Now you UAW jerks get nothing for a month and a half. I would get used to this if you won't help in any way.

*applause*

Chrysler told the candian government that it need's money now or it will be moving 8,000 jobs to the US. I would have told them ''don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out!''.

Unfortunately closing their plants for a few weeks doesn't mean the UAW workers won't get paid. They'll still make 95% of their normal earnings for doing absolutely nothing.

The problem I have with this joke is that the American cars, for the most part are statisticly as good as any car. A few more problems per thousand cars just isn't that big of a deal. I am tired of the "japanese cars are better than American car" attitude that has killed interest in American cars.

Agreed. If you took sh*tty out of the ad it would be better. I was just going off on the bailout and the lack of understanding the UAW seems to have about the state of the companys they work for.

I guess it really should not surprise me that they will get paid 95% of their normal earnings for doing nothing. It just makes me that much more angry.

That's how I understand the joke too but most people probably interpreted this picture the way chris1450 interpreted it

If you have been driving American made cars for a while then obviously you know that they are far from s**tty and have come along way.

It takes a long time to build back confidence in a product. The truth is American vehicles used to be really horrible vehicles not too long ago. The fit and finish on the interior was especially cheap. Foreign automakers saw an opportunity to capitalize on the Big 3's mistakes; like any good business would.

It took a long time for Americans to lose confidence in the Big 3 and it will take even longer for Americans to trust them again.
