Question Step/Sill plates

I stopped by the dealer today to price some step sill plates for my truck. It is a 2000 and the guy said that they donot list the step sill plates for the 4 door trucks. He had a set for a 98 3dr, but there is a picture of them in the 99 brochure, and that is the year that they came out with the 4 doors on the super cabs. Does anybody have any on thier 4 door?

Not sure what you are refering to. Sill plates are on the inside of your truck on the floor where you step in. Are you refering to side step bars which install on the outside of vehicle?

I do have them in my three door. I went to Travelier store and got em. These that I have would not work for the four door but I am sure they make em. Check them. Pep Boys? I doubt the Ford place is going to have em.

Thumbs up

They are usually called a door sill protector. The catalog I have has quite a few of them. Most seem to apply with 3M tape. There's even some that are stainless. They go on the painted part of the door where your foot slips when you try to get in to fast and miss the floor board The catalog I have, has no prices. Their site is www.trucktrends.com I've haven't visted the site only their shop in Detroit (southgate)

The ones that I am talking about are in the Ford Brochure for 1999. These are items from ford. They cover up the painted part of the door sills. In other words when you open the doors all you will see is grey plastic. Ther e will be no paint visisble. If anyone has a 99 Brochure, they are on page 32. They are not in the 2000 brochure, at least not the one that I have.

Thanks,

LHM

BTW, how do I add a signature to my post? I skipped that part because when I joined the truck had not come in yet.

LHM, I think all the screens on the msg board have the word 'profile' near the top. Click there, the Signature part is near the bottom. Also, to the left of the Signature block is 'UBB Code'. Click there to find the syntax for all the fancy stuff these yahoo's are using.

Angry

Got a reply from Ford Owner Connection on the part numbers for the plates. They called the same dealer that I bought the truck from and asked the parts manager about the plates and he confirmed that they are not yet availiable, they had me waiting 2 days for something that I had done before I ever e-mailed them. The plates are pictured in the brochure, but here it is Y2K basically and they are still not availiable for a 4-door. I call that false advertising.
