x2 You will only need a small portion of the space in the U-Haul. You might have to use some type of containers to keep the items in the back of the pickup dry, but I'm sure you'll find this a better(and safer) solution.

With tailgate down you have 7.5 feet but you may have trouble turning if the U-haul has a short tongue. My Yamaha Maxim fit in my Screw with tailgate down.

The OP has the new model with the even taller tailgate.
Before the bike is put in the bed or the trailer is loaded,
hookup, and with the tailgate down make some turns and listen for grinding metal sounds.

Thanks for all the replies guys...I got a motorcycle pallet from the Harley dealer and will use that for the bike...right now I'm trying to figure out what should go where and whether buying ramps would be worth it. I'd rather just throw money down on a good utility trailer for future use. A lot of good ideas on here though. The uhaul is a 6x12 enclosed.

I bought a decent ramp at Harbor Freight for under 150 dollars. It's 72" long and a couple feet wide. Not the greatest ramp but considering I was seeing others for several hundred dollars I can live with a not so good one. It's got a 1200lb capacity and my bike is about 675lbs.

For ease of getting it in and out I always put my bike in straight. The back wheel is using every part of the tailgate but so far no issues......knock on wood.
